Zurich/Geneva, 30. October 2019. According to the Michael Page Swiss Job Index, Health and Life Sciences led the monthly growth in advertised jobs with +6.7% (September – October 2019) and 17.7% year-on-year growth (October 2018 – October 2019). Demand was particularly strong for doctors, pharmacists and biologists in the Health and Life Sciences sector in cantons such as Basel, Geneva, Zug and Zurich.

Across Switzerland advertised jobs grew +0.3% between September and October and +17.6% on an annual basis. The German-speaking region, which accounts for 9 out of 10 advertised jobs, recorded a monthly growth rate of +0.3% and an annual growth rate of +17.7%. This compared with +0.4% and +16.3% respectively in the Swiss Romande.

The IT sector continued its dynamic growth in advertised jobs with demand especially high for systems specialists.

Central leads Regional Growth

The Central Region (LU, NW, OW, SZ, UR, ZG) showed the strongest results with a monthly growth rate of +2.1% and an annual growth in advertised jobs of +15.9%. Advertised jobs in all regions showed strong annual growth. The limited regional monthly growth is a seasonal trend.
